These tools have been proven useful for designing and implementing the National Reserve System and National System of Representative Marine Protected Areas and the Indigenous Protected Areas. Vegetation condition assessments, using the Vegetation Assets, States and Transitions (VAST) framework, have been published in two of Australia's premier natural resource reports: the 2011 State of the Environment Report and the 2013 State of the Forests Report.
